Forest School at Wheelock

‘Look deep into Nature and you will understand everything better’ Albert Einstein

We are incredibly fortunate to have a beautiful woodland area within our school grounds. Every child at Wheelock will take part in our comprehensive Forest School Programme. Classes work together in the woodland to develop a range of skills appropriate to their age as well as selected connected curriculum projects to support learning in the classroom and to foster lifelong learning skills for their future.

Forest School is defined by 6 core principles which run through every session:

We believe that children deserve the right to access nature and to discover and learn through the environment around them. In today’s society Children are exposed to less risk than ever before and this can, in turn become a barrier to learning. at Wheelock Forest School we aim to teach children to manage risk safely and therefore build life skills, resilience and self-reliance.
