Pupil Premium

What is pupil Premium?

This is additional money given to the school, by the Government, for children in receipt of Free School Meals, Cared for Children and Children with parents who are in the Armed Forces.

• For general information about Pupil the Premium, see

Are you eligible?

  • We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils
  • We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of pupils in receipt of FSM are adequately assessed and addressed.
  • In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged
  • We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil, or groups of pupils, the school has legitimately identified as being vulnerable. Any provision, paid for through Pupil Premium Grant, will be support at least one FSM pupil.
  • As we have relatively few pupils entitled to FSM the Pupil Premium Grant will be allocated following identification of priority groups or individuals
  • Not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium.

How much pupil premium do we get?

In 2019-2020 we have 21 pupils who are entitled to Free School Meals and receive Pupil Premium funding for 27 children.

We endeavour to use the money to make the most impact on our pupil academic progress and well-being. We hope to bridge any gaps in opportunity and ensure full access to a broad rich curriculum.

We presently spend our additional funding on

  • Small group interventions
  • Reading Eggs programme
  • Individual Mentors for all Pupil Premium and Free-School Meals children
  • Treetops provision, including SEAL groups, allotment group, Outdoor Literacy, Healthy Heroes, Study Groups and 1 to 1 nurture support
  • Acorns lunchtime club
  • Resources for Treetops groups
  • Support with payment for school trips and residentials
  • Free uniform bundles
  • Free after-school sports clubs
  • Professional development opportunities for staff
  • Monitoring the attainment of pupils and identifying any 'gaps'

Mrs Helen Sweeney, Headteacher is our Pupil Premium Champion and will provide the following information in the annual data report to the governors:
