Site Maintenance Officer – AAAD5006 - £16,680 - £18,076 pro rata – 30 hours per week / 44 weeks per year.

The Headteacher and Governors at Wheelock Primary School are looking to appoint a hard-working, enthusiastic and self-motivated Site Maintenance Officer who will take pride in maintaining our school and its grounds to the highest possible standards.

We are looking for someone who can identify and address daily maintenance issues, as well as having a vision for the long-term improvement of the school and its grounds. We need someone who sets high standards and works to maintain them at all times. The successful candidate will need to use their initiative to tackle issues as they arise and to work affectively with contractors and suppliers and demonstrate effective communication skills. The role will involve some cleaning duties as well as daily checks to ensure the school is secure, clean and everything is in place ready for the start of the day.

Experience of managing health and safety and a knowledge of relevant legislation would be an advantage as the role will also involve overseeing health and safety in school and working with our Site Maintenance and Compliance Officer to ensure the school is fully compliant. An ability to use a computer will be necessary as all our Health and Safety documents are stored in an online management system.

The post will be for 44 weeks per year and will involve working a split shift pattern based on the following hours:

Mornings:        7.30–10.00am

Afternoons:     2.45- 6.15pm

You would also be required to secure the school building after school events and take annual holiday entitlement during school holidays. Flexibility to work overtime during holidays when we have contractors on site would be an advantage.

Out of School Club Deputy Manager AAAD5102 – Grade 4 - £16,680 - £18,070- pro rata per annum.

Wheelock Primary School is looking to appoint an experienced, qualified and enthusiastic Deputy Manager for our out of school club called The Hive.

The successful candidate will love working with children and be able to support the ethos of our school; providing the best care possible for all the children. The new Deputy Manager will work closely with our two managers to plan and lead a wide range of exciting and engaging activities, considering the ages and interests of the children at the club. They will also work closely with the rest of the team and be able to deputise for the managers in their absence.

Level 3 childcare qualification or equivalent is essential.

A current Paediatric First Aid Certificate and Food Hygiene Certificate are desirable but not essential. Willingness to gain these certificates is essential.

Working hours are 20 per week, 8am to 9am and 3.00pm to 6.00pm five days a week, term time only and excluding INSET days.

Casual Play Worker The Hive, Wheelock Primary School - AAAD5101 £14,659 - £15,125 pro rata per annum.

We are looking to employ a play worker on a casual basis for our Before and After-School Club, The Hive. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of this growing provision.

The Hive provides a warm and welcoming environment where children can relax and have fun at the beginning and end of the day. We need someone who is friendly, enthusiastic and playful with good communication skills and who will quickly establish positive relationships with the children and their families.

The role will include collecting the younger children from their classrooms and welcoming the older ones as the arrive; helping to provide snack; supporting the children in their play and running structured activities including crafts, cookery and sports.

Dedication to providing quality childcare is necessary to ensure the club meets all regulatory and legal requirements. the successful applicant will need to gold a level 2 or 3 qualification in either Play work or equivalent Childcare qualification and ideally have previous experience of a play setting. The position is during term-time only and excluding INSET days. The hours could be 07:30 to 09:00 or 15:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday.

Midday Assistant, Wheelock Primary School

The Head Teacher and Governors at Wheelock Primary School are seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our team of Midday Assistants. 


The role includes supervision of children during lunch time, arranging age appropriate activities in the classes during wet playtime and ensuring that the school's Behaviour Policy is applied effectively.


The successful candidate will enjoy working with children and as part of a team.  Wheelock Primary School places highest priority on the safeguarding of children; all applicants will be subject to a stringent vetting including references and DBS clearance and an induction process.


The post is for 5 hours per week, 12 noon to 1.00pm, worked Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year, term time only.  The salary is £7.83 per hour.
