Weekly News 11.1.19

Welcome back Kestrels.  We have a had a fun first week- it was lovely to hear about all the exciting things you got up to during the Christmas holidays.  I particularly enjoyed hearing stories of extended families who had been to visit and how much the children appreciated this. We have also started our new topic, 'Spread your Wings'. Please take a look at our class website which will give you lots of information explaining the plans we have for the next two term.  We have started our class book 'Skellig' by David Almond, which has enthused the children and set their imagination running wild; they are already hooked!   In maths, the children have really impressed me with their grasp of shape properties.  We will continue this focus next week.  During the afternoons this week, we have worked on created individual topic book covers, which look great.

This week, year 6 will be bringing home their revision guides to help prepare them for their upcoming tests.  The children will have already discussed with me which pages to complete- please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any advice.  I would also appreciate your support in ensuring that these revision guides are in school every Friday.  Year 5 are only weeks away from their visit to young voices, please continue to support them to learn the songs.  This will be their main home-learning for the next few weeks.
